Mia’s family enjoys traditions, but when two school friends arrive for Mia’s twelfth birthday party, they don't think her piñata is cool. Throughout the day, Mia finds it difficult to keep up appearances for both her friends and her family.
About the Filmmaker
Born and raised in Metairie, Stevie Cavalier is a filmmaker and actor who has immersed herself in the process of filmmaking for the past six years. She recently graduated with an MFA in Film Production from The University of New Orleans. Since then she has been working on local films and theatrical productions, as well as teaching film production at Tulane University. Stevie has written, directed, and edited several short films, while also working on numerous others in varying departments. Her passion for filmmaking stems from a driven desire to bring communities together to create art. Stevie is the director and producer of The Piñata.
