Kevin Bacon Wants to Remake This '90s Horror Film: 'I'm Just Waiting for the Call' - Parade Magazine

Kevin Bacon is ready to film another sequel to the cult classic horror film from 1990 starring Bacon alongside Reba McEntire, Finn Carter, and the late Fred Ward.

The actor, 64, revealed on Jan. 27 that he is patiently waiting for the green light to bring back another version of Tremors.

After a Twitter user said that the latest Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer made them want to see a new Tremors film "that isn't direct to DVD," Bacon weighed in, letting fans know that he also wants a sequel of the same movie.

"I'm just waiting for the call…🪱," he wrote alongside a worm emoji

The Ron Underwood directed film tells the survival story of residents in Perfection, Nevada as they attempted to defend themselves against terrifyingly large underground worm-like creatures.

Several direct-to-video sequels were released following the initial debut of the original film with most of the main cast, including, Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, Tremors 5: Bloodlines, Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, and 2020's Tremors: Shrieker Island.

This isn't the first time that Bacon has expressed his want for another sequel of the horror flick. Back in 2021, the Footloose actor opened up to Esquire about Universal approaching him to continue making more direct-to-video films a few years ago. He ultimately turned down the offer, but made amends with the franchise around 2015.

"We were around the 25 year anniversary. I went to Blumhouse, and they were totally into the idea," Bacon told the outlet. "Universal didn't want to remake it as a feature and also maybe because it didn't work as a feature the first time. So we put it aside. Then they came back to me and said, 'What would you think about doing it as a series?'"

The show got picked up by SyFy but didn't make it too far as it never aired on television. Despite the setbacks the franchise foresaw, Bacon still has his heart set on bringing back the cult classic film.

"I would still love to do it, believe me," Bacon said. "Maybe it needs to be the 30th anniversary or the 35th. We'll keep going."
