CULPEPER, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A showcase of film genres that have been named to the National Film Registry will be taking place this month.

The Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation in Culpeper will be hosting the series with free screenings.

According to a release, there will be films shown on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

This facility is part of the Library of Congress, and it oversees one of the largest collections of motion pictures in the works.

The collection covers the entire history of cinema, and this series will include films from between 1923 and 2008.

Masks are recommended, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

No large parcels, purses or backpacks are permitted within the theater.

The series kicks off this Friday with the 1941 film The Maltese Falcon.
