After two years of virtual viewing, Western Carolina University’s School of Stage and Screen will present the 13th Annual Controlled Chaos Film Festival in-person.
The festival, which showcases the work from students across the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts, will take place in the Bardo Arts Center at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29.
Controlled Chaos will present a diverse body of work that presents the unique cinematic voices of WCU’s film and television program’s student filmmakers, as well as those from other programs within the college such as music, art and stage. The films are then adjudicated by film professionals and faculty for inclusion.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the creativity and quality of student films this year, said Josh Russell, director of WCU’s film and television program.
From prep to post-production, students invest countless hours to complete their films. In addition, they must raise money, as well as find cast and crew members for their productions, edit, design and market their films. Proceeds from ticket sales help to fund the films of students the following year.
After the live presentation of Controlled Chaos, Uncontrolled Chaos, which is intended for more mature audiences, will take place, and will be streamed on the Film and Television Production at Western Carolina University YouTube channel.
Tickets can be purchased at the Bardo Arts Center box office by calling 828-227-2787 or in person, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 199 Centennial Drive on the WCU Cullowhee Campus. Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for WCU faculty/staff and seniors 65 and older, and $20 for adults.
